Hi all, new to this so please reply in usable english rather than geekspeak; had trojan olmarik.tdl4 in win32, on laptop using windows 7; used eset to get rid, which system said it had before shutting down to reboot; ever since then goes into windows repair mode and shuts down unable to boot via F8 or indeed any other way. any bright ideas please? cheers

Unfortunately not as computer second hand; from your reply, i'm guessing i probably need to get hold of one and use it to reboot?

Hi Thanks for response, unfortunately don't have a disk, guess from your query i need to get one and use it to reload / reboot system?

Yes as we need to use the recovery console from that disc ... Or

Create a Windows 7 System Repair Disc

Dowload the following to your desktop

ImgBurn and install
Download Win 7 32 bit recovery console zip
Extract the ISO file from the zip to your desktop
Double click the ISO file and Imgburn will open
Burn this to a CD

Once done put the CD in the sick computer and boot from this


When you reboot you will see this although yours will say windows 7. Click repair my computer

Select your operating system

Select Command prompt

At the command prompt type the following

  • Bootrec.exe /FixMbr
  • Once finished type Exit


Reboot to normal windows and run MBRcheck again please
