A couple of days ago I noticed that my computer had unexpectedly acquired some icons from somewhere; now I am stuck with a number of ad bars, a red cross which keepes appearing to the left of the computer clock saying "Your computer is infected" and a windows background screen consisting of some sort of html document warning me about a virus infection (the screen seems to be laid over the actual background, but when deleted it just changes into a flickering grey & white background.

I have tried a number of suggestions on this and other websites but to no avail; my HJT log is...
