Hello,

I thought I would start a small thread regarding the new MMORPG Star Wars Galaxies which just released this past week. Many people have been waiting a long time for this one as the best new online role-playing game. It's been a long time in beta, and I think peoples expectations were pretty high. And I can say I think people are not disappointed!

The first night was pretty miserable. You could guess many people went out and bought this on opening day (like me :D ), and planned to install and get subscribed to Sony at least on the first night. Well it turned out that everyone had the same plan - the subscription servers couldn't handle the load, and there were hardware failures and huge delays. The message boards were full with complaints and people were saying "worst launch ever... etc.". But I tell you what - those complaints never disappeared so quickly after Sony got an Oracle problem resolved and turned the worlds up on the second day. I got subscibed in about 30 min (compared to 4-6 hours) for some on opening day.

Other than a few world reboots on the second day, things were pretty stable. I got a character created, and met up with my friends on the planet Naboo on the server Eclipse which is an east coast server supporting Euro and UK peeps too. The graphics are amazing, and the thought that went into the economy, crafting and social aspects is amazing. You have insurance, banking methods, an email system, and transport mechanisms to get you around. B) I spent two solid days (amid some hardware crashes every 45 min or so - my problem, not the client) figuring stuff out, and I feel I've only scratched the surface. You can form groups and go on missions to earn credits and a reputation. You can be a brawler, entertainer, medic, marksman, etc... It suits many different types of character interests. The chat system is very good and stable compared to AC2 which seems hopelessly flawed these days. In watching other message boards, it seems people are leaving their previous games (AC/AC2/EQ/DAoC) to try out this new game. It's really quite nice. The GUI is very good with a lot of handy shortcuts, aliases, chat methods, moods, and combat techniques. There is a whole architecture behind crafting which some people prefer over the combat. This website may give you a feel for the depth if it:

Other than this, there are countless web links to the new Star Wars Galaxies game. Here's the main ones that I have been using:

Star Wars Galaxies
Star Wars Galaxies Forums
Star Wars Galaxies Professions Links

The game is a lot of fun but can be a bit pricy by normal standards if you are not really into MMORPG. The game cost is $49.95 and I haven't seen it on sale anywhere just yet. You get a free month with the game and then it's $14.95 a month after that, if you decide to go month to month. If you commit to a year (its like cell phones now, lol <_< ), you can get it down to $12/mo.

Happy gaming and may the force be with you...

I was told that using star wars galaxies cheats and exploits are against the rules, and that visting a site like removed url is a violation of the terms of swg. I have cheated in games since up up down down left right left right b a start in contra..so i don't really know what the big deal is.

12. You will not exploit any bug in Star Wars Galaxies, and you will not communicate the existence of any such exploitable bug either directly or through public posting, to any other Sony Station member. You will promptly report such bugs via the /bug command in-game or by emailing [email protected]. Exploitable bugs include, but are not limited to bugs that grant the user unnatural or unintended benefits in-game.

Exploitation of bugs within the game will result in disciplinary action being taken against the account that may include official warnings, account suspensions, or account terminations depending on the severity or repetitiveness of these incidents which will be determined by a CSR and a CSR Supervisor. Multiple suspensions or account termination will result in the termination of all SOE game accounts.

removed the link you posted above. as you can see by rule 12 that exploits are against the rules. they want a level and fair playing field. Further it is against our policies to post about cheating, hacking, warez ect here at GTG. If you have questions please click on the Terms of Service link at the top of the page.

Thank you,
Starjax
