I got a laptop from Comet which it turns out has netintelligence on it, it would not allow me to access most sites (Facebook e.t.c) so I attempted to uninstall it using the add/remove programs thing. When I did this it asked for an uninstallation code, which i do not have, to get one you must create an account, which i do not have, I don't even have an activation code! I then went to this thread: http://www.geekstogo...etintelligence/ however the techniques described in this thread have not worked for me thus far, it all worked fine up unitil the part where it mentions running LSP-Fix and removing nihlsp.dll (which is in capitals on my computer, in case that helps) once i have done the steps mentioned there, the four things i am supposed to uncheck (+ "000000000001" "Netintelligence Home Edition LSP" "Netintelligence Ltd" "c:\windows\system32\nihlsp.dll"

on my computer) remain there, refusing to be unchecked, by saying 'Winsock Protocol Providers cannot be disabled (only deletion is supported)' when I do remove nihlsp.dll the laptop automatically restarts and when it comes on again nihlsp.dll is still there and the things I am supposed to un-check remain unable to be unchecked! My laptop is a Windows 7, in case that helps.

Have you just bought this Laptop from Comet? If so, take it back to them, as it shouldn't be preinstalled on a normal Retail laptop.

As far as I know, this software was preinstalled on laptops that were part of the Home Access Scheme, which the Government setup (no longer available now I believe). If you did get it through the Home Access Scheme, you should have been given the Discs and password etc.

As Starjax said, we cannot help people bypass these types of software/policies, for obvious reasons. The best thing to do is either take the Laptop back to Comet if it was just a retail purchase (nothing to do with the Home Access Scheme), or if it was part of the Home Access Scheme, you will probably need to contact the people who you originally went through in order to get one of the laptops.

Thankyou it was part of the Home Access Scheme, and we did not recieve any discs or whatnot, so I will get on to that soon thanks again.
