Hi all,

So i just reformatted my pc due to a virus i just couldnt shake. The reformatting went fine, but i have discovered i dont have drivers for several things from the initial boot - including my ethernet port, meaning i cant connect to the internet to find and download drivers.

I used my notebook to find, download and transfer the driver for the ethernet port, but even though it came with an installer and says that the driver was installed, it still doesnt work and appears with a '?' in the device manager.

The device name is Realtek RTL8139/810x Fast Ethernet Adapter. Im not sure whether i just have the wrong driver or something but if anyone can help i would greatly appreciate it.

What is the make and model # of the computer?

What operating System is installed.

Have you tried in Device Manger to right click on RTL8139/810x Fast Ethernet Adapter "Select" uninstall and reboot your computer? If not please try that.

Realtek 8139 is a very common chipset network driver, Windows has had driver support for it for the last 12 years or so.

Note that there is a difference in Device Manager between a wired network adaptor and a wireless one. A wired network adaptor comes up as "Ethernet Controller", whereas a Wireless one is usually labelled as "Network Controller".
