Coby

Even Coby, which usually imports cheaply built Chinese electronics, has entered the tablet market with the Coby Kyros. Coming in at under $150, it’s neither a Google-authorized device (so no Android Marketplace or Google Mobile apps) nor does its include AppsLib marketplace contain very many popular apps. Fortunately for TechRepublic contributor Donovan Colbert, it’s not too difficult to root the device and get the Android Marketplace installed. Even then, it has some difficulties with the hardware, including the touch screen and Wi-Fi.

What technical skills/knowledge are required to "root"?

I wish i had the money i spent on cheap technology. Even names like SONY, Samsung, etc, make junk stuff to sell. Next year you will be throwing away what you just bought, so if you got money to burn, go ahead. I dislike the netbooks after buying a Acer aspire One. Sold it for $150 after upgrading the memory to 2 gigs and still hating how slow it was. Cost me $250 5 months earlier. I don't want to fiddle with comps just to make them work. Got too many better things to do.

Just my opinion, but it's only worth 2 ¢.
