After System Restore Virus, I cannot connect to the network [Closed]

2 weeks or so ago (11/4/2011) I had a System Restore virus. After a combination of Malware Bytes,Avast, cc cleaner, unhide.exe,tdsskiller, and several registry scans, I was unable to find a trace of the virus left. I am still having trouble connecting to my home network, which I never had before. I have tried resetting the winsock, unchecking the proxy settings, disabling and re-enabling the wireless card, uninstalling and re0installing the wireless card drivers, and connecting to other networks. All networks (after connected) display as "Identifying..." and there is no internet access what so ever.

Open Services...
Start > Run > Type: services.msc > Click OK
Scroll down to and double click DNS Client
Set to Automatic under Startup type
Click the Apply button
Click the Start button
When it starts click OK

Repeat for DHCP Client.
And repeat for Remote Procedure Call (RPC).


When done, close Services.

Try the connection again

Then run OTL and run the following script as I need to check the dependency files

[*]Select All Users
[*]Under the Custom Scan box paste this in
netsvcs
%SYSTEMDRIVE%\*.exe

I can connect to the network, but it puts the status as "Identifying..." and there is no internet access.

I got the same results as you did for the "CMD /K SC QC DHCP"

OK next phase

Could you go to Start > All programs > Accessories
Right click Caommand prompt and select run as administrator
In the black box that opens type the following bolded command

Sfc /scannow

Let me know if that cures the problem

I have a connection. I am typing this on the afflicted laptop. When I try to connect to yahoo messenger it says "We are not able to make a connection to the internet". I also just tried downloading the current version of Java and it said "The installer cannot proceed with the current Internet Connection settings"

Download Windows Repair (all in one) from this site

Install the programme then run

Go to step 2 and allow it to run Disc check

Once that is done then go to step 3 and allow it to run SFC

On the start repairs tab select advanced mode and click start

Select the items ticked (remove the ticks from the rest ) and tick restart system when finished

Then try your programmes again

Didn't work. I am able to download updates and games from servers (Steam) but cannot for example connect to the storepage through the client, connect to the hulu server through the desktop client, or log into yahoo messenger through the program.

OK next suggestion to alleviate this would be to overinstall the programmes on top - could you try that with Yahoo meesenger first please to test it

Interesting. When I try and run the installer it says that "Yahoo messenger is unable to download the files needed for installation. Please check firewall settings and retry installation" So, reset firewall settings?

I restored my firewall settings to default and then restarted the computer. My problem still persists. It is on and "Block all connections to programs that are not on the allowed list of programs". However, when i go to advanced firewall settings, all the programs that i want to access (yahoo, steam, hulu) are on the allowed list.
