Please read the following two or three times to ensure that you get it right

Preferably from a clean computer, I need you to download: gparted-live-0.10.0-3.iso (115.1 MB)
Windows 7 64-Bit (x64) Recovery Environment


Create a bootable CD, 1 for Gparted and 1 for the Windows 7 Recovery Enviroment, from the ISO images. You can use ImgBurn do this.

Now boot off of the newly created Gparted CD.


You should be here...
Press ENTER


By default, "do not touch keymap" is highlighted. Leave this setting alone and just press ENTER.


Choose your language and press ENTER. English is default [33]


Once again, at this prompt, press ENTER

You will now be taken to the main GUI screen below

According to your logs, the partition that you want to delete is 2 MB
Click the trash can icon to delete and then click Apply.

You should now be here confirming your actions:


Now you should be here:



Is "boot" next to your OS drive?

If "boot" is not next to your OS drive under "Flags", right-mouse click the OS drive while in Gparted and select Manage Flags

In the menu that pops up, place a checkmark in boot like the picture below:


Now double-click the button.

You should receive a small pop up like this:

Choose reboot and then press OK.

Now reboot from the Windows 7 Recovery Environment CD and execute the following commands:

• bootrec /FixMbr
  
• bootrec /FixBoot
  
• exit

Once back in Windows.

Download MBRCheck.exe to your desktop.

• Be sure to disable your security programs
  
• Double click on the file to run it (Confirm the UAC prompt)
  
• A window will open on your desktop
  
• if an unknown bootcode is found you will have further options available to you, at this time press N then press Enter twice.
  
• If nothing unusual is found just press Enter
  
• A .txt file named MBRCheck_mm.dd.yy_hh.mm.ss should appear on your desktop.
  
• Attach that file.

Okay, so I got to the point where I was deleting the drive and I don't exactly have one at 2 MB. Yes I'm a chicken. Here are the four different drives that came up. Would you please let me know which to delete?

• fat16 Dell Utility 39.19 MB (flags diag)
  
• ntfs RECOVERY 750 MB nothing in flags
  
• ntfs OS 232 GB nothing in flags
  
• ntfs (blank for label) 1.57 MB under flags it says boot, hidden.

I'm assuming it's the 1.57 MB boot one, but just too much of a chicken to go for it without you giving me the thumbs up.

Nevermind. I grew up and deleted the 1.57 MB one since the rest were obviously much bigger. I'm in the process now of booting up from the Windows 7 recovery disk.

So I booted back to the Windows 7 recovery and executed the commands successfully:
•bootrec /FixMbr
•bootrec /FixBoot
•exit

When I restarted the computer without the disk in there the following message appears: BOOTMGR is missing Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart. When I did, I still get that message. We're getting closer I can feel it!

OK could you start from the recovery CD and select startup repair that should correct the bootmgr warning

If that fails then from the command prompt in the recovery cd type the following command :

Bootrec.exe /RebuildBcd

This is a new infection and we are feeling our way around it at the moment for the fastest way to kill it

Alrighty, the startup repair did fix the problem. Also, ESET no longer found the Win32/OlmarikTDL4! I reran the MBRcheck and here is the txt file created.  MBRCheck_11.22.11_12.07.02.txt (13.41K)

I will remove my tools now and give some recommendations, but, I would like you to run for 24 hours or so and come back if you have any problems

Now the best part of the day ----- Your log now appears clean

A good workman always cleans up after himself so..The following will implement some cleanup procedures as well as reset System Restore points:

Run OTL

• Under the Custom Scans/Fixes box at the bottom, paste in the following
  

  Quote

  :Commands

  [Reboot]

• Then click the Run Fix button at the top
  
• Let the program run unhindered, reboot the PC when it is done

Run OTL and hit the cleanup button. It will remove all the programmes we have used plus itself.

We will now confirm that your hidden files are set to that, as some of the tools I use will change that

• Click Start.
  
• Open My Computer.
  
• Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
  
• Select the View Tab.
  
• Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Do not show hidden files and folders.
  
• Click Yes to confirm.
  
• Click OK.

Your Java is out of date. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system.
Please follow these steps to remove older version of Java components and upgrade the application.

Upgrading Java:

• Go to this site and click Do I have Java
  
• It will check your current version and then offer to update to the latest version

SPRING CLEAN

To manually create a new Restore Point

• Go to Control Panel and select System
  
• Select System
  
• On the left select System Protection and accept the warning if you get one
  
• Select System Protection Tab
  
• Select Create at the bottom
  
• Type in a name i.e. Clean
  
• Select Create

Now we can purge the infected ones

• GoStart > All programs > Accessories > system tools
  
• Right click Disc cleanup and select run as administrator
  
• Select Your main drive and accept the warning if you get one
  
• For a few moments the system will make some calculations
  
• Select the More Options tab
  
• In the System Restore and Shadow Backups select Clean up
  
• Select Delete on the pop up
  
• Select OK
  
• Select Delete

Now that you are clean, to help protect your computer in the future I recommend that you get the following free programmes:

Malwarebytes. Update and run weekly to keep your system clean

Download and install FileHippo update checker and run it monthly it will show you which programmes on your system need updating and give a download link

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system and to keep them updated. To keep your operating system up to date visit
