Start Hijack This and go into the Config option, and then click on the Misc Tools button at the top.

You will then click on the button labeled "Generate StartupList Log". Once you click that button, the program will automatically open up a notepad filled with the Startup items from your computer. Copy and paste these entries into a message and submit it.

Please copy a hijack this log also.

i did install a host file my company released onto my computer. I have also installed the host file on several other computers at work and have not been experiencing the pop up. But I guess I could try to remove it... not too sure how tho..

Does it just happen when you boot up? You could go to task manager (hit control>>alt>>delete) and it will list everything running. See if there is something you don't recognize or is suspicious by googling them or you can post them here.

It happens for the duration I have my computer on once I boot my computer up. As I mentioned in a previous post, I believe the window pops up on an interval of every 15 minutes or so. Here are some things to consider:

the window may be some annoying updater reminder to some software.

dlg.exe is a part of BVRP Phone Tools software suite. It offers faxing, phone book, e-mailing and more. This is a non-essential process. Disabling or enabling this is down to user preference NOTE: The makers of this utility have also made SpyWare in the past. To-date,

dlg.exe is not classes as spyware

however.

Have you tried setting new restore points after doing a virus scan from ewido or another scanner?

good news.. I finally able to right mouse click that mysterious window when it popped up and I hit restore on the menu box. In return, the window identified itself as:
MS_WebcheckMonitor

Any ideas what this belongs to and how I can shut it off?

go to the start tab and see if this is there.

MS_Webcheckmonitor is not listed in the startup list under msconfig. Altho there are 2 blank entries that are located in location: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Any ideas? I have googled it, but haven't found very clear definition of what this process is.

I found a reference to web_checkmonitor in my registry.

Under--> MyComputer-->HKEY_Current_User-->Software-->Microsoft-->Search Assistant-->ACMru-->5603

The registry details are:
Name: 000
Type: REG_SZ
Data: web_checkmonitor

Should I delete this registry value? Please advise when you get a chance.

I would not delete it.

Try this program:

Download and install EasyCleaner:
http://personal.inet...rts/ecleane.htm

After installing it check under Settings > Registry tab if the backup
option is checked and if the directory it points to exists.
This should be true by default, but check anyway.

Then click OK and click Registry
Then click Search. When it is done select all the items per color,
(most, if not all should be green) and click Remove.

Reboot when you are done and let us know how it goes.

No luck coach. It did clean up my registry but did not rectify my problem. I'm awfully tempted to delete that registry value. theres gotta be some way to get rid of this stupid thing.... once again thanks for your continued support coach
