LG doesn't have any Windows 7 drivers for that notebook. Is the BSOD occurring without any external USB devices being plugged in? Might check the LG site for a BIOS update.

Hi!

Thanks for the answer. No external drives are plugged in, i checked the LG website but it only has BIOS updates for vista and XP. Should i try the vista one?

BIOS is computer specific, not Operating System specific so if there is an update it's worth trying.

I tried to download the bios update on LG webpage but i didn't get it to work. It said error: Loading driver and quit on me. Any other suggestions? My thought was that i could be a bad driver somehow but i don't know for which component i can't understand what the .dmp files say.

Thank for your help!

All the dumps point to USBPORT.SYS. Since there are no Windows 7 drivers for your computer, all I can suggest is to use Belarc Advisor to see what the make and model number of your system board (Main Circuit Board) and Bus Adapters are. Maybe with that info we can look for updated Chipset or USB drivers.

For instance, on my system, Belarc says:

Main Circuit Board
Board: Dell Inc. 0M3849
Serial Number: ..CN4811151501D0.
Bus Clock: 800 megahertz
BIOS: Dell Inc. A08 07/07/2006

Bus Adapters
Intel® 82801FB/FBM USB Universal Host Controller - 2658
Intel® 82801FB/FBM USB Universal Host Controller - 2659
Intel® 82801FB/FBM USB Universal Host Controller - 265A
Intel® 82801FB/FBM USB Universal Host Controller - 265B
Intel® 82801FB/FBM USB2 Enhanced Host Controller - 265C

Hi!

Here is the info:

Main Circuit Board:
Board: MICRO-STAR INT'L CO.,LTD MS-16371 Ver 1.000
Bus Clock: 133 megahertz
BIOS: American Megatrends Inc. A1637IL1 V1.52 09/24/2007

Bus Adapters:
O2Micro OZ711SP1 MemoryCardBus Controller
O2Micro Integrated MMC/SD controller
O2Micro Integrated MS/MSPRO Controller
Intel® ICH8 Family USB Universal Host Controller - 2830
Intel® ICH8 Family USB Universal Host Controller - 2831
Intel® ICH8 Family USB Universal Host Controller - 2832
Intel® ICH8 Family USB Universal Host Controller - 2834
Intel® ICH8 Family USB Universal Host Controller - 2835
Intel® ICH8 Family USB2 Enhanced Host Controller - 2836
Intel® ICH8 Family USB2 Enhanced Host Controller - 283A

I have also been looking for a solution for another problem i have and i don't know if the are related. I have been having trouble with validation problems of about every software on the machine, i know learnt that i downloaded the wrong version of Windows Seven from MSDN (http://social.techne...2e-238ec5924c18) so I'm going to preform a complete reinstall of the system. I'm planing on doing this after the BIOS issue is resolved if that is recommended (i mean the order BIOS first, then reinstall correct windows 7 version).

Thanks very much for your help so far!

I'll see what I can find for drivers on the MSI web site but in the mean time I would go ahead and do a Clean Install (with format) of the correct Windows 7. As soon as the install is done, do a Windows Update (Start / All Programs / Windows Update). See if that corrects the driver problem as Windows 7 is pretty much driver complete and if there is a better driver for your hardware, Windows 7 should have it.

I can't find drivers for the MSI mainboard but I did find this on their web site: http://us.msi.com/service/download/' class='bbc_url' title='External link' rel='nofollow external'>MSI USA Download Center.

Option 3: Live Update 5

Live Update 5 is a powerful update tool with user-friendly interface, provides an automatic scan and download for your MSI products. Using this service to keep your system in the most updated environment.

Live Update 5 supports the following MSI product lines and items:
Mainboards: Drivers/BIOS/Utilities;
Graphics Cards: Drivers/BIOS

Give that a try and see if it resolves your problems.

Hi!

I said it only supports MSI products so it didn't work, but i installed the correct version of Windows 7 and will try it out. Hopefully it works this time!

Thanks for your help!
