Hi!

Can someone please help me try to find out what's wrong with my computer.

It'a a LG E500 and i recently installed Windows 7 on it. Since then i have had problems with the BSOD, i have attached the ".dmp".

LG doesn't have any Windows 7 drivers for that notebook. Is the BSOD occurring without any external USB devices being plugged in? Might check the LG site for a BIOS update.

Thanks for the answer. No external drives are plugged in, i checked the LG website but it only has BIOS updates for vista and XP. Should i try the vista one?

BIOS is computer specific, not Operating System specific so if there is an update it's worth trying.

I tried to download the bios update on LG webpage but i didn't get it to work. It said error: Loading driver and quit on me. Any other suggestions? My thought was that i could be a bad driver somehow but i don't know for which component i can't understand what the .dmp files say.

All the dumps point to USBPORT.SYS. Since there are no Windows 7 drivers for your computer, all I can suggest is to use Belarc Advisor to see what the make and model number of your system board (Main Circuit Board) and Bus Adapters are. Maybe with that info we can look for updated Chipset or USB drivers.

For instance, on my system, Belarc says:

I have also been looking for a solution for another problem i have and i don't know if the are related. I have been having trouble with validation problems of about every software on the machine, i know learnt that i downloaded the wrong version of Windows Seven from MSDN (http://social.techne...2e-238ec5924c18) so I'm going to preform a complete reinstall of the system. I'm planing on doing this after the BIOS issue is resolved if that is recommended (i mean the order BIOS first, then reinstall correct windows 7 version).

I'll see what I can find for drivers on the MSI web site but in the mean time I would go ahead and do a Clean Install (with format) of the correct Windows 7. As soon as the install is done, do a Windows Update (Start / All Programs / Windows Update). See if that corrects the driver problem as Windows 7 is pretty much driver complete and if there is a better driver for your hardware, Windows 7 should have it.

I can't find drivers for the MSI mainboard but I did find this on their web site: http://us.msi.com/service/download/' class='bbc_url' title='External link' rel='nofollow external'>MSI USA Download Center.

I said it only supports MSI products so it didn't work, but i installed the correct version of Windows 7 and will try it out. Hopefully it works this time!
