no start up on hp620?

My hp620 laptop reads non-system disk or disk error, replace and strike any key when ready? I've tried running the diagnostics set up but it just read start up test failed ! Can anyone help as i've no idea about pc's etc? Thanks

Your Hard Disk as failed
or
your connection (wires) to the Hard Disk is malfunctionning
or
your motherboard sata (or ide) port is not working

You can download the disgnostic iso bootable files from your Hard Disk manufacturer and test your HD to see if it is still in good working condition
or
you can unplug your Hard Disk from your laptop and plug it in another computer to see if it is readable.
