NO, it is OK to use a differer or new TIM.

It is in the guides but will nag you.
Always unplug from the mains when working on the computer and take anti static measures even when handling part not attached to the PC.
Don't rush, be methodical.
Change the I/O shield installed in the case for the one supplied with the Mobo.
Check and CHECK again that the stand offs screwed to the Mobo mounting plate match exactly the pattern of the screw holes in the Mobo, the exact number, NO extra ones.
