since I know zilch about tablets, but I'm wondering if they have at least 1 free USB port
and if I can insert a thumb drive(?) enabling me to use a wireless mouse and keyboard
to send E-mail, write documents, etc. If not, is it reasonable to assume they'll make
future tablets with similar enabling features?

Thailen,

There's no such thing as a dumb question. :) I know the tablets that I have looked at have a USB port - it's pretty standard on devices such as that. They also typically have Bluetooth, which would allow for a Bluetooth keyboard.
