Welcome to Geeks to Go Bartholomeu,

In simple terms, an iPad is an over-sized iPhone. Despite all the talk of the post-PC era, a tablet is still a long way from replacing your desktop or notebook. For instance, there is no USB port. To use a common scenario, you can't connect your camera and download pictures. If you could, it wouldn't recognize your camera, and you'd be limited by the amount of RAM on board (no hard drive). You also can't connect a printer, hard drive, or ethernet cable. iPads connect to the internet wirelessly. You could connect speakers to the headphone jack I suppose.

Tablets are best for consuming content. For example viewing web pages, Youtube, or Netflix. It's also okay for short content creation like Twitter or updating your Facebook status. Much like you probably use your phone. For serious work, or content creation you'll need a PC or Mac.

You can plug in speakers like shox and headphones and if you have a printer that connects to wifi there is that option to use to print photos etc. at your local electrical store they should sell hard drives that connect wirelessly but r quite expensive. The iPad also comes with 3G or you can connect to your home wifi (if u have)
I have an iPad and they work great but u do need a computer for iTunes and the iPad does not come with Microsoft. So all in all if u get an iPad keep ur laptop
