ok, in your router enable dmz host. When you open a server make shure you remember the hostname that you typed in for your server, after you open the server and your on the server lists it should show up on the internet/ local buttons both. Make shure you always refresh your internet list or you wont ever see it. When i open my server using dmz host enabled on my router my local and internet ip are the same.

Hi this is me again

At last I hosted!!! I used your method jrm!! but I had to find out myself what to do exactly... So all you have to do is enter in your router (usually going in here http://192.168.1.254) then try to find a tab or something where there is advanced setup or virtual server (remember routers are different so you have to find this whats next yourself), in it you should find this :

DMZ Host Function

DMZ WAN IP Address ___.__.___.___ (here you have your ip - this is the ip to use when hosting for example 212.94.138.142[this should be there so you don't need to write it yourself])

DMZ LAN IP Address ___.___._.__ (here fill in your lan adress for example 192.168.1.1)

then right under it you have ADD or something and you add them
in the DMZ list. After you should see this:

DMZ List
1. WAN IP ___.__.___.___ LAN IP ___.___._.__ <*>

(of course filled in with your IPs)

Now you have done the DMZ host Function all you have to do is host normally from COD, remeber when you have dedicated, do Internet. Now when you press start, a window comes with COD console. So now you have the server... all you have to do is join the DMZ WAN IP Address you had on your router and do:28960 (for example 212.94.138.142:28960) after it... and THERE it is!!!

Yeah but you have to keep in mind that by enabiling that DMZ host you are eliminating the router, which means that you are still sharing your internet, but the router's firewall isn't guarding your ports anymore and so spyware and viruses may harm your PC much more easily but anyways that you can solve by installing another firewall. The worst thing you have to keep in mind is that you are stressing your router since that DMZ host is not there to use it for a long time and so if you leave it there for a long time, it may cause instability to your router and even may become useless!! (A friend of mine told me this because he tried it). Especially on low cost routers.

Another thing... the DMZ host of course can be used also for VPN but I'm not trying it since I want my router usable lol

ummm, how is enabling dmz host eliminating a router??? I get your point on the routers firewall but you can easily fix that by getting a software firewall like you said. It wont cause instability and become useless because you are getting use out of it arent you, multiple pc's on one ip....

Dont worry about the spyware stuff so much, just get a software firewall, a routers main purpose isnt being just a firewall but being able to use multiple pc's one one ip address from your isp.

after you get done hosting a cod server, turn dmz back off if you are worried

Question for ya, I've installed all the patches for the CoD and CoDUO to the 1.51 patch. Now that I'm trying to run the server, when I connect to the server, it shows the server is a 1.5 version, I've used the same patches on the server too, before I ever set it up to run the game. Question is, since Activision doesn't monitor or have anything to do with the 1.51 build at this time, where do you get the 1.51 version console at for running the server as a 1.51? I've been to many sites, and haven't been able to find it, with the exception of the patch that I already have, but without a 1.51 version console on my server, I can't get into the server since I've patched my pc that I play on. Any Suggestions?

okay, 1.5 is the latest patch for call of duty and for call of duty united offensive the expansion the latest patch is 1.51. So 1.5 is for call of duty and 1.51 is for united offensive.


There is no 1.51 version console for running a server for you to download, if you have 1.51 installed for united offensive it is suppost to work.

When you open up a server make shure you open the server on the correct game. For example if you opened a server on call of duty united offensive, you have to go into united offensive to be able to join it. If you opened the server on regular call of duty (not the expansion) and then click into cod united offensive, you will not be able to join the game.

What im trying to say the versions and the game has to be the same!

another thing, if my above post doesnt help you make shure you didnt install the 1.5 patch in call of duty united offensive because the 1.5 is made for regular call of duty.

I will try that jrm when I set up the server to begin with I used the patches, on both I believe, I'm going to uninstall the server's Cod and Cod united offensive and clean out the files, then reload them, and only use patch 1.51 for the uo and try that. I'll get back with ya, and let ya know if it worked, I appreciate the help...

hey yo i figure it out just go to my computer local disk c and program file and look in the coduo folder in there go to uo and delete this file called somethin weapon and delete every mode in there not in the uo folder but before hope it helps
