I don't specifically know the Dell G1 so I'll give you this in generic terms and you'll have to do the follow up. Most motherboards have either a jumper or a BIOS setting that permits one to enable or disable on-board video. Some have a built in auto-detect that disables on-board video when an AGP video card is installed. First you'll have to find out which of these three situations applies to your motherboard. Then, depending on whether your card is AGP or PCI, you'll have to select the appropriate one in your BIOS as to initialize _____ first. Once you have the correct entries selected and you can get a signal, you'll need to load drivers. Dependng on your motherboard you could also find several for a host of Video related settings. If you want to get started on that information, post back when you get there and we'll go further.
edit: "several for a host of Video related settings" meaning several BIOS settings
