Hi, I'm not very skilled with the workings of PCs and have no idea how to find the correct components, so I wanted to ask here to see if this will work.
------

I have a quad core pc, each processor is 2.8ghz (I think), I have 4GBs of RAM. I have a 450w power supply... Don't know what else you need...

I would like to get a new power supply, 600w and a new graphics card, and ATI Radeon HD 5830. So if I upgrade my power supply, can my pc take it? or what else should I upgrade? Thanks!

Is this system a brand name or custom made? What size case do you have? Full tower?

sorry missed one other thing to address your question, do you plan on running this card alone? noticed you have 2 geforce cards currently you cannot bridge an ati card with one of the geforce as they use a different chipset

Okay, You will need a EPS form factor supply of 800 watts to be safe and allow for future expansion make sure it is Crossfire certified to ensure you can do this in the future if you need to. You have a tower so Im not really concerned with the depth however you may like to check as the EPS specs allow a depth of up to 230mm make sure it is 80 PLUS certified to ensure you have good power management built in, and single 12V rail design to ensure independent operation of your devices. Go for seasonic or corsair these are very reliable.

Thanks for the info :D I will get an 800w supply then as I found a cheap one which looks good, but I don't think I will ever want crossfire, but as you say, I will make sure it is possible if I ever did.

no worries my pleasure, cheap is not good please make sure it meets the requirements I recommended. Be sure also what you select has sufficient connectors for all your devices.

Some sound advice there from spaceagecow but an 800W PSU is way more than you will need, use a PSU calculator such as http://www2.corsair.com/psufinder/ to get the best guidance, other brands such as Antec also provide such a facility.
Based on the details that you have provided and allowing for only one HDD these are the recommendations made by Corsair http://www2.corsair....lse&vc_oc=False

Hi, will 800w still work however? I don't mind going over what I need, but the question is can my pc take this power? I don't understand how it works and obviously I don't want to break it.

No worries spaceagecow as it was not ill advice :no: we are all here to provide the best guidance for the OP, compare the prices and the intended usage and you will see what I mean;

I was looking on Ebay at this one

Would this cause issues? I can easily buy one from a link you said, but Ebay was cheap.
