As far as malware goes it is gone. We fixed the obvious damage too. The only things I see in the logs are a program from Western Digital which isn't starting as it should (Probably came with an External hard drive as it is not in the uninstall list) and a driver for what looks like an iPhone connected to a USB port. Neither of which I know anything about so I'm not going to worry about them.

You did say you had a problem when you tried to clear the Event logs? Check and see if you still have that problem:

Right click on (My) Computer and select Manage (Continue) Then the Event Viewer. Next select Windows Logs. Right click on System and Clear Log, Clear. Repeat for Application. Reboot.

OK...so I went to manage...event viewer doesn't even show up...I searched for event viewer under start...found it, ran it, and that's where the "MMC could not create the snap-in" message comes up.....I Googled that error message and it come up as I don't have the most recent version of Windows 7 Admin Tools... should I worry about that or let it slide...?

I think it should be fixed.

copy the next line:

Dir /a \windows\system32\eve*.* > %userprofile%\Desktop\evejunk.txt

Start, All Programs, Accessories, right click on Command Prompt and Run as Administrator, Continue.

Right click and Paste or Edit then Paste and the copied line should appear. Hit Enter.

Type with an Enter after each line:

eventwvr.msc

Does the Event Viewer come up?

Open the file called evejunk.txt which should now be on your desktop and copy and paste it to a reply.

Copy the text in the code box by highlighting and Ctrl + c

/md5start
eventcls.dll
eventcreate.exe
EventViewer_EventDetails.xsl
eventvwr.exe
eventvwr.msc
/md5stop

then run OTL and Under the Custom Scans/Fixes box at the bottom, paste (ctrl +v) the text. Verify that you got it all and Then click the Run SCAN button at the top
Let the program run unhindered, OTL will NOT reboot the PC when it is done. Save the log and copy and paste it to a reply.
