OK, here's the deal: I keep getting a message that my DVD-ROM drive is performing an exceptioon with Allnode.dll every time I try to play a DVD. Also, I frequently get a message that Windows doesn't have permission to access the drive when playing CDs (either music or CD-ROM). The CDs will usually play after the message is displayed, but DVDs won't play at all. <_<

Welcome y2j737 <_<

This is a problem with the DVD player software. Either try to install and then reinstall it, or try a different program. Often times the DVD player software included with the device is not very reliable. PowerDVD is an excellent program.
