Clicked some pictures on annual day from my Nokia mobile phone and transferred them to iPod. They were total of 286 pictures. Gave iPod to my friend and when that guy returned the gadget. Can find only 198 pictures. Friend says he did not deleted them and i trust him. He says he has just connected my iPod to his computer to copy them. Even he has the same number pictures as in iPod and we can find the remaining 88 pictures.

Did you verify that all 286 were transferred before loaning it to your friend? Since both he and you are showing the same reduced amount of photos it would seem to indicate the full 286 did not get transferred originally.
