I've been away at University. When I got back this summer the family computer was increadably infected. I cleaned it up once but didn't do it thuroughly enough and now it's worse. The biggest problems are 'WebRebates (by TopRebates.com)', 'SideFind', 'SB Soft' and 'Slotch Bar'

Your computer has a number of spyware programs that we need to remove. For more info on spyware see the Spyware Tools link in my signature.

Let's start with a couple of free programs:
CWShredder is the first to run. Here's why: If a CoolWebSearch variant is indeed running on your system, it may actually prevent you from running spyware scans. It is smart enough to detect efforts to detect it, and stop them. Download CWShredder to your desktop or other location. Close all browser windows, double click the CWShredder icon to run, then click the Fix -> button. When finished, reboot and run Spybot Search & Destroy.

Spybot Search & Destroy Download and install. Start Spybot S&D using the "Spybot-S&D (easy mode)" link from your Start menu . Click the Search for updates button, if any are found then click the Download Updates button. After all updates are downloaded, click the Check for problems button. When the scan is complete, place a check next to anything marked in red, then click the Fix selected problems button. You may need to run Spybot S&D multiple times to remove all infections.

Also, You have a hijacker onboard. Download the latest version of Ad-Aware from here (if you already have Ad-Aware installed, make sure that it is the latest version and always go online and update it before you run it).

After installing AAW, and before running the program, you must FIRST update the reference file (and you must always do this before you run the program at any later date).

Now do the following:

Under Ad-aware 6 > Settings (Gear at the top) > Tweaks > Scanning Engine:
check: "Unload recognized processes during scanning."

Under Ad-aware 6 > Settings (Gear at the top) > Tweaks > Cleaning Engine:
Check: "Let Windows remove files in use after reboot."

Press "Scan Now"

- Check option "Use Custom scanning options"
- Check option "Activate In-Depth Scan"
- Press "Select drives\folders to scan"
- Select the active partition which is usually C:

Now press "Next" to let Ad-aware scan your drives. It will find a number of spyware files and registry keys. Right-click in that pane and choose "select all"

Now press "Next" again. It will ask you whether you'd like to remove all checked items. Click OK.

Finally, close Ad-Aware, and reboot.

Run Hijack This again and post back a fresh log.

Wow! That got rid of alot of it! There are still a few problems though. The Spybot S&D worked wonders except each time I run it through the scan it comes up with a thing called 'DSO Exploit' and it's red so it has a check and I press 'fix it' and it seems to work. Then I run it again to make sure I've gotten everything and it comes up with the same thing again. I've ran the Spybot S&D many times and I still get the same thing comming up, still in red and it still says it's fixed after each time. Another problem (I don't know if they're related or not) is when the machine reboots and I press CTL+ALT+DEL two unknown things are in there: 'Internst32' and 'Esobm'. The last thing is in the Add/Remove Programs menu in the Control Panel there are three remaining things which I don't know about: 'MyWay Speedbar', 'SB Soft' and 'WebRebates (by TopRebates.com)'.

Well that seems to have made no difference what so ever. Homepage is still hijacked (to selfsearch.biz) after every reboot and after reboot ctl+alt+del still comes up with 'Internst32' and 'Esobm'. Also, still in the add/remove programs file there is the 'my way speedbar' 'SB Soft' and 'WebRebates (by TopRebates.com). By the way, I appreciate all this help.

Congratulations! Your system is CLEAN :thumbsup, However, I still suggest you delete the realone player spyware. It collects personal information and sends you targeted advertising. Deleting it will not affect the player. You will still be able to update normally. realsched.exe is NOT an updater, it's spyware.:

How do you prevent spyware from being installed again? We strongly recommend installing SpywareBlaster (it's free for personal use).

Prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted pests.
Block spyware/tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and Mozilla/Firefox.
Restrict the actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer.
Consumes no system resources.

Download, run, check for updates, download updates, select all, protect against checked. All done. Check for updates every couple of weeks. If you have any errors running the program like a missing file see the link at the bottom of the javacool page.

It's also very important to keep your system up to date to avoid unnecessary security risks. Click Here to make sure that you have the latest patches for Windows.

It's okay to delete the Hijack This folder in a couple weeks if everything is working okay.

Also, make sure your Windows Firewall is turned on. To do this:

1. Go to "Start", then "Control Panel"
2. Click on "Network and Internet Connections", then "Network Connections" at the bottom
3. Right-click on your internet connection and choose "Properties"
4. Click the "Advanced" tab and make sure "Protect my computer..." is checked
5. Hit "OK" and you will now be protected from hackers

These next two steps are optional, but will provide the greatest protection.
1. Use ANY browser besides Internet Explorer, almost every exploit is crafted to take advantage of an IE weakness. We usually recommend Firefox.
2. Install Sun's Java. It's much more secure than Microsoft's Java Virtual Machine .

After doing all these, your system will be thoroughly protected from future threats.
