I have a lenovo G550 laptop, a few weeks ago after downloading some kind of security update from microsoft my computer restarted and then went into to check disc after this the computer would not restart, i eventually got it into safe mode and was able to restore the computer to a restore point however after this the computer will open up normally, however i can not acces my c:drive or any system 32 things, i cannot open any microsoft office programs but certain internet sites will work, nothing with active x, my computer is also saying that my version of windows is not genuine- i have discovered that this is because it uses active x software to confirm the software is genuine and no active x stuff is working.

i have come to the conclusion that i need to reinstall windows (because a pop up keeps telling me to- it leads me to a box that says an unauthorised change has been made and needs to be restored)or restore to original factory settings, however i cannot work out how to do this- i do not have any disks with that came with the computer, i was able to make a recovery disk but this just offers me the option to restore to a backup image - but it says it has no date to return to and i cannot find any other way of doing this.

so i basically have 2 questions 1: how do i restore the factory settings etc 2: does anyone know of any other way to fix this weird set of problems.

i have spoken to microsoft tech support and "shockingly" they were very unhelpful and the lenovo website is unfathomable and useless- please help me its driving me mad now.
thanks

Using Lenovo OneKey Recovery System without the main Windows operating system

In the event that the operating system cannot be loaded, you need to recover your system with
the OneKey Rescue System, which includes several applications to help you detect and remove
viruses, and recover Windows system and data. Pressing the OneKey Rescue System key will
activate Lenovo OneKey Rescue System when your PC is turned off. Within the program, you
can restore your system partition to the original factory status, or to a previously generated
backup. You may also transfer critical data or documents to other storage devices. All these
features make OneKey Rescue System an important utility for securing your data.
Note: It is not recoverable if Restore to factory default or Restore from backup has been run. Make sure to
back up any critical data before you run these features.

The OneKey Rescue System key is next to the power button.
