What is the IP address -
this is as before - when you posted the address and I asked you to compare it with the one on the other laptop.
There is no need to do compare NOW - I just need to know if it is back to the same as it was.

That is what it should BE.

at least with the 192.168 the remainder is variable.

That as far as I am aware on auto configuration - as against you manually setting an IP address is CERTAINLY not what it should be.

Close all applications
Shut down.
The run ipconfig again and see what we have NOW.

As an aside issue. You will notice that on HiJack there are many - entries not found.

I have shut down then rebooted, then ran the ipconfig command again. I get the same result as last time 192.168.0.194

I understand the risk of torrented downloads, and have not downloaded anything using torrents from a source I did not trust.

I have knowingly installed LogMeIn Hamachi (usually used for Minecraft multiplayer on private servers with friends, I keep this disabled when not in use.)

I have not knowingly installed Akamai net session that I can recall.

Many network adapters come with their own wireless management software. If you're using another program to manage your wireless network connections and you want to use Windows instead, follow these steps:

If automatic wireless network configuration is turned off, you'll see Auto configuration logic is disabled on interface "Interface name".

Also please go Control panel Network and Sharing - then manage network connections in the left pane.Right click the wireless adaptor, click properties. On the window that opens, click Configure by the top entry for your adaptor. On the window that opens click the power management tab. Ensure that the small box, allow Windows to turn off this device is not checked. If it is uncheck it. please and exit as required on all windows.

It seems familiar, but I'm still not entirely certain if I installed it myself. Either way it doesn't seem like something I need now or ever have needed for that computer.

Also, I'm not sure how to tell what is managing my wireless connection.

After you have set the power management if it needs changing and rebooted please test it as you wish and then post the results and I will reply about 1500. If it goes back to the problem where it just will not connect - nor will ping - check that ipconfig and if that has gone back to that address - post that please.

May I repeat that anything you may find on the web about some quick fix - may be an unwise step.

I have followed the instructions in your post #35.

When using the command netsh wlan show settings in the command prompt window, it already showed that the Auto Configuration logic was enabled on interface "Wireless Network Connection" so I left it as is.

The other instruction of unchecking the box on the wireless adapter that allowed windows to turn off the device to save power went as intended. The box was checked, so I unchecked it and closed out of all the windows.

I'll reboot my computer and see if there is any change since there seem to be none as of yet.

Seeing those things stop is what I had meant, but there was no change after the reboot. I haven't touched my computer further after the reboot so I could wait for further advice.

Sorry if I did not make it clear - but I typed it, as a last minute response to your post 38.

It was meant to indicate that, as I said in my post 37 when I told you I was going offline , so that you were not waiting for a reply - that was not going to arrive.

WHAT did you MEAN - it was back to NO CONNECTION or a connection only if you did as described in your first post OR a connection that was MADE automatically bit then dropped out after sometime.

On this site only qualified members who have undergone training may deal with these issues.

I am NOT suggesting that you are infected, but it appears to me that some program, which may be innocent is changing your IP address.
You will I presume have realised that from what you have seen just in your last post and what it was when we started, compared with what it was when we reset

Explain in the topic that you have no internet connection on the computer.
IN your Malware forum topic please provide the LINK to this thread so that the expert assisting you may see readily what has occurred here.

THEY are very busy in Malware and you must be patient.
If after 3 CLEAR days you have not received a reply, please follow the advice to post in the Waiting Room.

ONCE you have posted in Malware please DO NOT ADD any further post, as that creates the impression, unless the thread is opened that it has been replied to.
