portable hard drive make windows not respond

I have a 2.5" 1tb verbatim hard drive and when i put into my machine or any machine for that matter it is visible in my computer but if i try to access,right click, or open a program that has any thing to with that hard drive windows stops responding and everything does not act normal.

I am not worried about the data on the drive Please help me guys
