can you give me some advice on which kind of PC to get if you only used it for Ebay and surfing and email? Is a notebook sufficient, or too slow, or a laptop or desktop PC? Thank you kindly, Mary

Hi Mary Miller
The various types of computer have their own strong and weak points'
Netbooks are small and easily transported but tend to be slower, have less functions and have almost no hardware upgrade options.
Laptops are more powerful than netbooks, have more features available, many hardware items can be upgraded** however they are not as transportable as netbooks and they can be expensive if you want top of the range.
Desktops you can build a powerful desktop for the price you would pay for a mid range laptop, almost all hardware components can be upgraded at no great expense but you cannot put them in a rucksack to transport them, you need an additional screen and the fans can be louder than those on laptops and netbooks.
Provide us with a maximum budget so we can make a suggestion for each type.

**Some high end laptops have upgrade options for the graphics card but they are more expensive.

Mary Miller it is eight days since you requested and received assistance but you have not yet replied, do you still require assistance or have you purchased a new computer and if so for the benefit of others can you post what you chose and what were the deciding factors - thanks.
