I'm relatively new to computer safety. I just found "tor browser bundle". Would i also need an ip masker to help keep my computer safe?

I have a comodo firewall already, and some anti virus/malware programs.

Hi and :welcome: pcyouzer
You only need one Firewall and one anti virus program at any one time, if you have more than one your system will become slow and unstable as the programs fight for system resources, see http://www.geekstogo...yware-software/ apart from the Firewall and AV software also download and occasionally run MBAM which is also available at the link.

thx for the welcome

seems like my post was confusing. i know not to have all my computer safety programs running all the time. comodo firewall is the only one that does that. the other ones i use when my computer has a virus or i just run a weekly/monthly check.

i should've said im new to anonymizers/maskers/etc. programs that help keep me safe when im browsing the net, keep my info secure, etc. i just found the tor bundle today. would i need to get a ip masker along with that?

No you must have the Firewall and an AV program running at the same time, you will be far less likely to get infected then.

what i wanted help on is anonymizers and ip masking and programs of that nature. i'm already having trouble with the tor bundle but that's another topic.

i did not know about the av program running all the time. i only have programs that detect and cleanup bugs/virus/etc. i'll have to look into that

Some information http://netforbeginne...nymous_surf.htm
Free masking software http://www.softpedia...p-Changer.shtml
I am only suggesting the free software download and in no way suggesting that you use any other product or service at those links.

I again cannot stress the importance of protecting your computer from criminal activity, you are particularly vulnerable if you use torrents or P2P http://www.geekstogo...yware-software/ Avast or MSE would be my recommendation, both are available free of charge and very light on system resources.
