Hey guys,

Was hoping to get some help with re-installing Java.
I deleted it because it wasn't working correctly, and tried to download it and received error 1723.

After fixing error 1723, I downloaded Java again, and when I tried to install it, it came up with a message saying: "This software has already been installed on your computer. Would you like to reinstall it?" So Obviously I clicked Yes and then it came up with another message saying "This action is only valid for products that are currently installed."

Any idea how I can fix this?

* In Programs and Features, there are no Java listings.

** If pictures are needed, ask and I will Screen cap.

Hi and :welcome: Corza92!

Step 1

Let's try with this tool to clean-up any leftovers from Java software.

Please download JavaRa and unzip it to your desktop.
***Please close any instances of Internet Explorer (or other web browser) before continuing!***
  • Double-click on JavaRa.exe to start the program.
  • From the drop-down menu, choose English and click on Select.
  • JavaRa will open; click on Remove Older Versions to remove the older versions of Java installed on your computer.
  • Click Yes when prompted. When JavaRa is done, a notice will appear that a logfile has been produced. Click OK.
  • A logfile will pop up. Please save it to a convenient location and post it back when you reply.

Then look for the following Java folders and if found delete them.
    C:\Program Files\Java
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Java
    C:\Windows\Sun
    C:\ProgramData\Sun
    C:\Users\[WindowsAccountName]/AppData/LocalLow/Sun/Java

Step 2

Please download and install the latest version of Java from:
http://java.com

Post the log file from JavaRa and let me know how are things now.

Hi Barbarian,

I tried what you suggested, when the log was meant to appear though, it came up with the error message "Cannot find JavaRa.log file. Do you want to create a new file?"
Whichever button I press, it opens up Notepad with no text in the file.

So after I tried that, I searched for the Java folders you listed, deleted the ones I could find.

Should I try download Java again?
