Hi,

I'm downgrading my OS from VISTA to XP SP2. I have the XP Installation CD but when I reached the point when all of the drivers/files where loaded it couldn't find an HD. I tried using KILLDISK but it's a no go.

Anywa advice?

Thanks.

Thank you sooooo much! You've been of great help. I owe you one. I disabled the AHCI and it worked. Thanks again

It is a mistake to go back to XP as that was designed over 10 years ago to support legacy hardware and software from 10 years before that. And most importantly, it was designed when security was an afterthought. It is particularly a mistake to go all the way back to SP2. Support for Windows XP Service Pack 2 ended on July 13, 2010. This means there are no more updates being released for XP SP2. Therefore I would at least urge you to download and install Service Pack 3 (SP3) via the Network Installation Package for IT Professionals (but anyone can use it) from here, with all support for XP ending in April of 2014.

A better option would be to upgrade to Windows 7. If you absolutely must have XP support because your hardware makers or favorite software developers have failed to provide current upgrades, Windows 7 Professional supports XP Mode. XP Mode support almost all XP software, though you will still need driver support for your hardware.
