I have had my G73 for about a year now and haven't had really any issues with it until the last few months. I play alot of flight sims on it; mostly FSX. For the most part it runs fine but several months ago I started getting blue or grey, sometimes sort of an olive drab SoD and it would freeze up completely. I figured out that it only did this with certain aircraft in FSX. I delt with this for a while until I finaly got brave enough to reload the OS. After that everything seems to be okay. Well, I got another sim recently called Wings Of Prey. It's pretty graphics intensive but I thought if my G73 can handle FSX, it should be able to handle WoP. I installed the demo first and immediately started having probelms. After just a few minutes in the game, not even in a plane and flying, my laptop just shut down. It did this every time without fail. It wasn't a crash; there were no errors or options to debug or start up in safe mode. It just shut down. I tried reinstalling, made sure direct X was up to date, new video drivers. Same thing. I bought the full game and installed it. Same thing. I finaly looked in the event log and for the most part didn't unserstand too much of what I was looking at. But I did find a number of entries that said "System shut down due to GPU overheating", or something to that affect. So I guess that is my problem. So my question is what can I do about it? Is there some sort of utility I can install to monitor the GPU temp or fan speed or... something??? I have noticed in the last month or so it seems like the cooling fans seem to run all the time and the noise is alot more noticable. I have never had any heat issues with it. For the most part the only thing that would get hot was the power supply but I guess that is to be expected. So no I am wondering what to do next. Isn't there a fan somewhere in this thing that is specificaly for the GPU?
