Outlook 2003 navigation buttons

Hi
In Outlook when using the navigation button for Contacts the main screen does not show the contacts it shows whatever you've been looking at last e.g. the calendar.
In the navigation pane the view shows as contact at the top but the rest shows as whatever has been looked at last e.g calendar dates.
Can anyone help?
