Going to say its my first build because first build in 15 years makes no odds things have changed so much.
Just spent a few hours looking at what other people are building here and what sort of issues they have had/ mistakes they have made.
My plan is to do some reserch and know what I'm doing in advance of actually building the pc. First step is parts.
I plan on spending between £500-700 on a gaming pc. I would like it to last a good few years so overcolcking ability would be helpful.

I was looking at cases, I really think I need to get a size for my graphics and MoBo before I find a case I like.

I like this graphics card,because it will play currant games and a good few upcomming ones with few issues from what I can find in reviews.

I'm going to just use my currant HD till the prices come down a wee bit, When they do im looknig into at least 500gig sattaII SSD.

Motherboard and CPU are causing me difficulties, each one I have looked at have had some negitive reviews.
I just want a good enough for my money gaming pc in time for diablo 3 coming out. My poor wee uni laptop would melt from heat exaustion lol

A couple of cautionary notes, you cannot choose your Ram before your MB - how do you know it will be compatible and the PSU is always the last component to decide on so that you know you have made allowances for all hardware.
Choose your MB first and then use the MBs QVL (qualified vendors list) to ensure you get a compatible CPU and Ram, then the case, Optical drive/s, add on card/s as you already have a HDD then the PSU.

going to reuse my currant Optical drive as well. It was upgraded not that long ago as the last one died. yes I spotted a list of how to build a pc eather here or .. maybe somewhere else it was a sticky. Thank you, I have a short list of MB's somewhere, I will post about that at a later date. I was looking though what MB's other people use for a gaming machine. Things change so fast and prices change so fast. I can see that Its going to take me a while to get the short list actually short lol.

Thanks for the update, a couple of pointers for you, Z68 spec MBs and i5 2500k CPUs are big with gamers doing a new build at the moment.

Ahh, thats fine.. I'm finding this quite hard. I understand the puting together of the parts better than the buying the parts. mostly because its not normaly me buying them. I used to have someone to do that for me. I thought the board was only compatable with i7's but i see what you mean about the sockets. I will pay closer attention to that in future.
I would be happy to look at anything suggested I used ebuyer just because it was easy to save everything in the one basket to keep it together.
