Hello. Long story short - I took apart my mouse to 'clean' it and can't for the life of me figure out how it goes back together. I've taken apart some other ones in the past with no problem, though I've never encountered one constructed quite like this one is. It is an older HP N3+ optical mouse (pictured here: http://www.geeks.com...87-2155&cat=MOU)

It had its 'lens' piece and another plastic piece apparently just floating loosely in there yet somehow held in place by the mouse's shell (when closed). Upon opening it, the pieces simply fell out and there's not really a clearly defined position for them, as far as I can tell.

I'll send some pics of the individual pieces, or provide any other info, if requested.

For a $4.79 wired mouse, it is not worth it. They are not meant to be disassembled and cleaned. Go buy a new mouse and a can of compressed dusting gas. Then when the new mouse becomes erratic, don't take it apart, just blast out the dust in the lens compartment with the dusting gas.
