None of the files have the same name so I don't think anything will be overwritten. What was odd is that 3 of the files seemed to be same size and date but different names and even file types.
I will copy the files over. Should I remove any old files that remain?

during uninstall I was notified that:

"Setup detected the following devices have changed on oyur sytem"
sda standard compliant sd host controller

I hit the button to continue. It went ahead to the next step of uninstall which was stopping services then abruptly said "the sytem cannot find specified file" and quit the uninstall.

OK more digging - -it must be related to the system DNS somehow

Could you open the HOST file at C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc
Right click the file and select Edit with notepad

Then add the following after the last line and then save

64.233.160.0 google.com
66.102.15.255 google.com
72.14.255.255 google.com
69.147.76.15 yahoo.com

Once done the in the IE address bar type google.com

Let me know how that goes

I opened and edited the file named "Hosts" but there was also hosts.bak and hosts.20120101-220221.backup. it either says ie cannot display the web page for google.com or it says the address is not valid for yahoo.com
