Welcome to GeekstoGo

Please provide the model of the TV - not just the series, ie B etc but the exact model.

OR search yourself here
http://www.sony.co.uk/support/en
as most current models have a guide.

TRY it with the TV on and the HDMI connection MADE when you boot the laptop.

As it works on another TV, you can as you say presumably discount the computer apsect. HOWEVER does the Sound Manager recognise the HDMI connection and allow the output selection.
The fact it works on another TV is not 100% inidicative of the fact that the answer still does NOT lie with the computer.

Some TV`s are more tolerant of the HDMI connection than others.
Open sound > HDMI properties > "Enhancement" Tab > check "Disable all enhancements" > go to "Advanced" Tab > change sampling rate back to 48KHz > go back to "Enhancement" Tab > un-check "Disable all enhancements"

Would you kindly respond indicating any progress on the issue.

As you have not provided the details of the TV and the computer, it is difficult to advise further.
This will help and although it is about Nvidia the guide in many respects is to be read on a general basis.

http://nvidia.custhe...io through hdmi

Do not forget that if the sound is being taken across the PCI Bus to the HDMI of the grapahics card you will need to configure that in your Sound setup

This may also help

http://windows.micro...asked-questions

and finally HDMI leads with ethernet, sometimes cause problems on older systems, especially the TV check which yours is
HDMI or HDMI with ethernet
