I've done all of the things in the "do this first" thread, and now i have drwatson postmortem debugger troubles. I used spybot, and really, all i found were cookies. Then, i started getting the drwatson problem. one time i shut down because my entire computer froze and when i restarted, i was directed to a windows xp update page, so i installed that as well (something to do with system32). but i still get the problem with drwatson...please help!

I would advise you to uninstall:
ViewPoint Manager
under Add/Remove Software.

Check the following items in HijackThis.
Close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

O2 - BHO: BHO - {00000015-A527-34E7-25C2-03A4E313B2E9} - c:\WINDOWS\system32\winsrvs_1.dll (file missing)

O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {E0E899AB-F487-11D5-8D29-0050BA6940E3} - (no file)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ViewMgr] C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager\ViewMgr.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WildTangent CDA] "C:\Program Files\WildTangent\Apps\CDA\GameDrvr.exe" /startup "C:\Program Files\WildTangent\Apps\CDA\cdaEngine0500.dll"

Then reboot and post a new HijackThis log.

The log is clean. :tazz:

Let me know if this solved the issue.
If not, can you remember if you installed any codecs before this started happening?

Your log is still clean.

Can you answer my question about the codecs please?

And let me know when the DrWatson occurs.

i think i might have reinstalled the k-lite codec pack. and the drwatson problem happens when my computer is 'busy', opening my computer, playing a video, and say, talking on msn messenger. my computer and msn will hang, with the little white not responding box, then everything stops and the drwatson error occurs. (this is just an example, it happens when i do too much basically).

EDIT: it just happened again, and i wasn't doing anything really, just opening an internet explorer url link.

Can you find C:\WINDOWS\DRWATSON.LOG
Open it in notepad and copy (the last part of) the log into your next post.
It'll probably be pretty big if this happens often, so the last bit will do.

:tazz:

Click Start, click Control Panel, click Performance and Maintenance, click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Event Viewer.

See if you can find any warnings or errors that occurred around the last crash.

Let me know.

here's the last time it happened, i searched in the event viewer for any errors that happened at the same time:

Source: Application Error
Category: None
Type: Error
Event ID: 1001
Description: Fault Bucket 00733296

Source: Application Error
Category: (100)
Type: Error
Event ID: 1000
Description: Faulting application drwtsn32.exe, version 5.1.2600.0, faulting module dbghelp.dll, version 5.1.2600.2180, fault address 0x0001295d.

not sure what these mean.

To obtain the latest version of DbgHelp.dll, go to http://www.microsoft...c/ddk/debugging and download Debugging Tools for Windows.
Make sure to choose the correct version.

It looks as if DrWatson is crashing itself.
