My computer (Windows 98) was recently infected with Security iGuard, which I have been able to remove., apparently successfully because all software seems to work as it should. The only remaining problem is that the screen background is solid blue, with an error message that reads (something like) "Infected by Trojan-Spy.HTML.Smitfraud .c, cannot run in normal mode."

When I go into "Display Properties" to change the background, three of the usual buttons are missing, i.e., "Background," "Appearance," and "Web." The other buttons (Screen Saver, Effects, and Settings) are still there.

Question: How can I restore the missing buttons, especially "Background"? I am assuming that the infection removed the missing buttons, and that if I can restore them, I can get rid of the blue background with error message.

Thanks much
