Some of the games I played on my old computer (Windows XP OS) now won't work on my new system (Windows 7) (see attached screenshot for error message I get). Do I have to give up my old games?

I have also face same kind of problem with several games and it is because such game source not compatible with new SO or device. So you have to find compatible source for your device from internet.

OK so firstly you are trying to install a ms dos program in windows. After that your system is far too fast for that game.
So you can do a couple of things:-

1. Install Ms dos beside windows as an alternate OS

2. after installing dos tomb raider will run but uncontrollably fast.Download a program which slows your computer as to let old software work.

OR

you can use DOSBOX application

I would suggest dos box as its simple you don't really require install an os or make a partition and you can also reduce pc speeds and fps.An all in one totally compatible app
