We will leave the Ask Toolbar since it came with Avira. In the free version of Avira, if you opt out of the toolbar then you don't get the WebGuard protection.

Go to Start – Run - type msconfig – click OK and click on the startup tab. Uncheck everything there except for your anti-virus program. Then reboot and let me know if it boots up faster please.

Hey Cookiegal, I unchecked everything and rebooted but it's still very slow. No difference at all.

Also when Windows plays that starting up "music" it comes out stuttered, not sure why.

Please remove ComboFix by dragging it to the Recycle bin then grab the latest version, disable all security programs, run a new scan and post the log.

Please visit Combofix Guide & Instructions for instructions for installing the recovery console and downloading and running ComboFix.

The only thing different from the instructions there is that when downloading and saving the ComboFix.exe I would like you to rename it to puppy.exe please.
