Welcome to GeekstoGo

Please do not think I am being pedantic in any way but from our HOW TO POST

Topic: Ask clearly. Be precise and informative about your problem. Describe any symptoms fully. The answers to your technical question depends as much on the way you ask the question, as on the difficulty of developing an answer. Offer a thorough, detailed description, and you'll get a fast, accurate reply.

It may be of help if you would tell us the make and full model of the laptop and the make and model of the TV
ALSO it does not matter so much as it is not reaaly a problem with the Operating system but are you not using Windows 7 - the reason I ask is that you have posted in the XP forum.

Here is a good starting point
http://www.guidingte...top-to-tv-hdtv/

and you may find this useful
http://www.amazon.co...to tv converter

MY ADVICE is post the details I asked for and then we can guide you.
