WİNDOWS XP HOME SP 3
HP LAPTOP

Hi all,

İ recently reinstalled the OS on my laptop,

which has the HP Back up and Recovery Manager installed on it.

İ rather NOT reinstall the NERO 7 PREMİUM program i had before,

as the above mentioned B.U.R.MANAGER,does back up the system and files adequately.

So i only need a good quality (FREE)CD / DVD Writer and Burner program.

that's reliable. ( Very İmportant That)

My DVD-ROM Reads Data and Plays music, CD's but doesn't WRİTE Data and No Burning.

Any suggestions / recommendations will be appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi mysoul ... ..:welcome:

if I understood your post...if your cd drive is a read only then you would have to replace it with a CD/DVD burner...about $30.00
if the cd drive you have is capable of burning then get ImgBurn from here

Thanks for the reply and the warm welcome,,

My CD Drive is not a read only,

but the write and burn functions

are currently disabled by another program ( NOT malware)

İ haven't yet decided how to proceed,

just testing to see what's available.

İ'm aware of İmgBurn.

Thank you.

Oh that's a long story,but here goes.

On reinstalling the OS with the HP Recovery Discs, which i recently found after misplacing them( beforehand the OS on my system was installed directly from a plain W. XP CD,borrowed from a friend)

So after the current re installation of the OS,

i found this obnoxious SONİC logo on my CD-ROM,

And a device ( NoPconfig) check marked 'Enable P config on your Drives)

with my Drive and Disc disabled.

Unknowingly after installing the OS,i removed ROXİO from my system(which was present thinking it was junk),

not knowing that it was a part of SONİC,

So now my drive reads data and plays music CD's but doesn't write data nor burn( which i had NO problem with before the reinstall)

İ'm waiting for HP to answer whether it would be safe to get rid of that damned program,

and it's apps,

as i' have to be sure that it's NOT integrated into the system(therefore causing problems,if it were to be uninstalled)

So that's the story,

Any comments ?

Back up and reinstall the OS ???

What on earth for ? what difference is that going to make?

İ want to get rid of SONİC NOT reinstall ıt !

All i'll be doing by reinstalling the OS ,will be bringing back ROXİO.

To bring ıt back(ıf that's what ı wanted) ı can sımply fınd that versıon on the WEB,

and reinstall it.

No need to reinstall the OS for that ,
