I have Windows 98 second edition and use Internet Explorer. Whenever I browse the web my computer responds slower and slower. The mouse becomes jerky and the longer I browse the worse it gets.

Resources are usually low despite removing everything I dare from the start up menu.

One thing I don't understand is that if I press ctl alt del, one of the programs running is always 'Explorer' even before I've logged on to the net and it doesn't even appear in the Start Up menu.

Any help would be appreciated.

explorer in the task manager is for windows explorer, not internet explorer. Windows explorer is everything like your task bar and start menu. So this should always be running. The slow internet may be do to spyware and such so i would suggest doing a scan with ad-aware or whatever the guys over there suggest.

good luck
