so im building my first computer and so far this is what i have put together(just online. i havent purchased anything yet)

I see you have listed AMD, would you consider using Intel?

yeah ill be using it as a gaming computer.

i will play all sorts of games. i saw they came out with that new star wars game. prolly give that a try.

im trying to work with $1,000 but i can spend more if i need to.

i was gunna put this - http://www.newegg.co...N82E16819115072 in it but i dont know if it will run on the motherboard ive chosen. also just found this AMD Phenom II X4 975.

ill most likely buy the parts from the websites that i used in the links. and ebay. unless you have a better place in mind.

i dont really have parts that i can bring to this build. my current computer is over 10 years old so everything is outdated. i have a sony bravi 52" to use as a monitor.

No, will not work, the Mobo is AMD, the CPU is Intel.

this looks like a descent build. im confused on the about which psu to use from the two you listed. also im confused about mobo size. 12" x 8.6" is an unusual size and im concerned because i dont know if the case i picked out will fit it?

You do not decide on a PSU until all other components are decided on and you then use a PSU calculator such as this example http://www2.corsair.com/psufinder/

Common dimensions for the ATX form factor MB are 12" x 8.6" and 12.6" x 9.6" so no worries there as long as your case is not a SFF (small form factor) type.

Some additional info for you, the 650W PSU is more than enough for a single HD6950 but should you wish to add a second HD6950 in the future both the 650W and a 750W would need to be upgraded so save yourself $10 now and go for the 650W PSU.

A 60GB SDD for faster boot times + a separate HDD for data only would be my suggestion.

Agreed, but will make little difference to game play. I also suggest you keep a small SSD boot drive as lean as possible.
We can also give some tips on optimizing the SSD.

well i might consider putting in a ssd if it'll be worth it. if it doesn't make much of a difference to gameplay then im not sure its worth it though. i will be using the computer for of other stuff to. like watching movies and listening to music.
