File and folder names are not visible in one partition of hard drive.
I formatted the system drive and re-installed windows XP, but problem exists.
I formatted the particular drive and repasted its data into it, problem still exists.

Um, I don't follow.
If you already have the data, why have you put it back in the same place you can't read it from?
Or have I misunderstood?

I removed the data to format the drive hoping that this may correct the problem. I re-pasted the data (as I wanted to keep the data in its original (now problematic) partition of hard drive.
