Hi,

Over the past few days, my computer has been experiencing drop-out of the local wifi connection that I set up in my apartment. I know it is my computer and not the network/router because my roommate's computer always works fine, even when I have lost internet connection.

The interesting thing is that the globe still appears in the bottom right corner, as if I am still connected. But if I try to use an internet function, it either goes really, really slowly, or it does not work at all.

I have fixed the problem a couple times by restarting the connection on my computer, which then takes a few mins before the internet works again, even after the globe appears. A couple times this has not worked and I had to restart my computer, and the problem has increased in frequency (just happened 2 times in 15 mins). I was using a Java application that connects to the Internet at the time. Interestingly, 2 times when I 'diagnosed'the internet connection, it said network security settings were not right, but I just clicked accept on the current settings (never changed the password) and it started working again.

I do not know what is causing this problem. I will promptly provide you with any information/specifics of my computer, network, and error messages as requested (I don't know what information is relevant right now).

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks,
Apar

It already happened again. Globe shows and webpages won't move. This time I was just browsing the web and no applications were open. I had to restart the connection and then re-type my password (password box was filled in under Security settings but it was not accepting security settings until I retyped it).

One thing I forgot to mention is when I hover over the network icon in the taskbar, it shows me that I am connected twice, once wireless and I think once hardwired (the bench). It shows the same network except one is '2' and one is '3'. But right now my internet is working fine and both appear.

Sorry for such a long description, I just want to list all the symptoms. Thanks again so much!
