how to repair cd rom drive

I am having trouble closing my cd rom drive, it won't close and I cannot put any cd's in the drive and use them. What is wrong?

Hi dpurtty, welcome to GTG! :D

Sounds like the track may have become dislodged. If your're handy, you could remove the drive, remove the top, and align the track and gears. If you mess up, you needed a new drive anyway. <_<

why dont you just push the drive close? if it doesnt stay closed just put some duct tape on it.

Sounds busted.
If this is a DVD burner than i would get it fixed but anything less and you gotta toss it. It would be cheaper to get a new drive anyways not to mention hardly anyone would repair it. But if you dont wanna get a new one i guess your last resort is to jst screw around with it
