Hi I went to control panel ... but I see no option or icon with performance & maintenance ....







Click Start >> Control Panel >> Performance and Maintenance >> Administrative Tools >> Event Viewer
The Event Viewer will open up, click on Applications >> look for the Winlogon entry and click on it
Click the clipboard copy button on the upper right.
Paste this into your next reply.

Yes I clicked on adminis tool then in there there is a performance icon .. clicked on that but there is no event viewer option ....

Click Start >> Run >> type eventvwr.msc >> hit ENTER

Ok I went to admins tools then computer management .. once there I clicked on event viewer then applications ...I found winlogon but I cant find the copy to clip board or any way to copy .. unless I high light the winlog then click on properties and in there I can see the report about the disk scan i will post that on my next post

It is one of three buttons on the upper right one is an up arrow and one is a down arrow and the other is the copy to clipboard.

Oh forgot to mention ... when i rebooted my computer after the last screen i got a error (crash report) and got this ...

I am afraid I have some bad news. We have found the cause of the BSOD's and it is a faiing hard drive. Your check disk report shows
4 KB in bad sectors so it will need to be replaced.

Since it has bad sectors. DO NOT USE IT except to copy files off on to your external drive and to clone to your replacement internal drive.


1. Use the external drive when it gets there to do this.
Get your personal data - backed up SEPARATELY to an external drive.

2. I recommend that you purchase either a Western Digital or Seagate internal drive that is compatible with your system and the same size or larger than the one you have in the ailing computer. These two brands provide cloning software and instructions to replace your failing internal hard drive. Your drive specs are:
500 GB Serial ATA II Hard Drive (7200 RPM)

3. If one of the drives (your current one or the new one you purchase)is a Western Digital (WD), use this Acronis True image WD edition software.
Acronis True Image WD Edition Software helps you to completely clone your current system drive onto your new WD hard drive. Cloning makes an exact copy of your old system drive on your new WD hard drive, including the operating system, applications, data, preferences, and email settings. Everything will be present and operate exactly as it did on your old hard drive. Acronis True Image WD Edition now supports WD Advanced Format Drives and ensures that all partitions are optimally aligned.

OR if they are both SEAGATE
You want to migrate your data from the old drive to the new drive and they provide DiscWizard as an option. Check out their instructional video on how to use DiscWizard to replace your hard drive.

Oh I am so upset :( But what can I do. It is going to be costly to buy another drive. I will look into an internal drive now... hope I can ask you for advice .. would you mind if I post what I find and you tell me what you think. Ive never done this before and wouldnt know what I am doing :(

Here are the specs

500 GB Serial ATA II Hard Drive (7200 RPM)

Make sure it is 500 GB or larger.

Serial ATA (SATA) that is how it connects to the motherboard

7200 RPM is the speed.

I personally would go with a Western Digital or Seagate for an internal hard drive.

Here is NewEgg as an example for Western Digital. You can probably find it cheaper but it is a good drive.

Here are some Seagate prices.


To get the best recommendation on specific model and price open a topic in the hardware forum here.


I will let them know so they will be looking for you over there. They stay up on this very well!
