Moved to applications forum.

Try Microsoft Security Essentials: http://windows.microsoft.com/mse It's also free.

Not a trial. Free full version of Microsoft's antivirus. It operates mostly silent in the background, and is light on system resources. Good detection and removal.

Thanks for the advice. Im really new with antivirus protection software, so I did some research about different free antivirus providors; avast seems to be a popular one but I think is too much advanced for me. Can I download try several ones at the same time? I was planning to test Microsoft's, avast, and zenok to see how it goes. I want to learn more about it.

Thanks again :help:

Read Admins tutorial http://www.geekstogo...yware-software/

Note the guidance as to why you should not have more than one AV installed.

No! Please read admins link as posted by phillpower2.

Also, you may want to disclose which AV came pre-installed as a free trial basis on your new computer. Even if you uninstall the software from the computer, residual files can be left behind that interfere and a special removal tool may be necessary to remove it completely from the system.

Further guidance is always a click away.

I would suggest using AVAST as a free antivirus. It's widely used and it's one of the best although it's free. Another thing people tend to forget is that a good antivirus should also be able to get rid of a virus it detected. As far as I know, Avast does a good job here too.
