hi everyone,

My pc had a harddrive crash as it started making very bad noises, i changed this and installed windows 7 as i had windows xp on this harddrive, i formatted and installed a clean copy.

since then my pc boots up but after approx 1/2 an hour it freezes no mouse, no task manager, nothing.
sometimes it gives me a bsod with some error codes one is this
stop:0x00000124

and once this also

machine_check_exception




i got cheap ram of ebay and it worked fine on windows xp, i checked the ram one at a time with memtest and they both had 100% ok, i have checked everthing but still it freezes and stops

can anyone help me please its doing my head in, would the bios be wrong or would my drivers not be updated, i have downloaded what was needed with drivermax as one of your techs said on here but still i get crashes.

i checked in the bios F8 and the CPU temp runs at 36-42. with the shutdown set at 70-140.



bios being wrong i meant to say i have not installed the drivers of the motherboard cd, they are the same ones as the windows xp installation, would i need differant ones.

first...you need more than 2 GB of ram to have any sort of reasonable system performance...
look in the device manager for any yellow ? or ! marks...download the drivers you need from the mobo manufactures site...

run the Windows Experience Index and get a screenshot of the results and post it back here...

hi i have been looking for the drivers for the motherboard, but am unable to find them.

i hav even contacted them regarding this but so far to no avail, can memory pass the memtest but still be faulty?

both of the missing drivers are chipset related

your drivers are here...
the WEI top score is 7.9...your best is 4.5...just a tick over halfway...if you can get the lower scores to that halfway point you will have reasonable performance...if you can't get there you may be better off loading xp if you can get xp drivers from ECS

the chipset drivers are the most important drivers for the motherboard...they are responsible for the various parts of the board interacting with each other....
in short yep....
