Hello. I am trying to upgrade our pc. The motherboard is an ASUS P4S-LA.
The Maximum approved processor is 2.53ghz Pentium 4 (socket 478)

I installed a 2.53ghz P4, but it only showed up as 1.9ghz in windows.

Would I be able to successfully install a 3.0ghz or higher, and would it at least clock at 2.53 if I did?
I cannot update the bios because the website took the files down years ago.

Thanks for any advice.

Your MB is only compatible with the P4 Willamette and Northwood CPUs not all socket 478 processors.

Would I be able to successfully install a 3.0ghz or higher,

No the same applies as the above, the only BIOS that you will find will be what has been specifically made for that MB http://h20000.www2.h...jectID=bph07620
