i dont know if this has already been posted, or if it is common knowledge among this community, but i thought id share just incase someone can get some use out of it. To quote forevergeek.com,

I just want to note that I have tried this trick, although I used only 4 pipes, but it slowed down my internet connection tremendously. I did bandwith tests before and after to confirm this. I guess it doesn't work for everyone.

Maybe it depends on the connection but i know this sped up my browsing incredibly, so i guess its worth a try since you can always revert to the old settings

Just thought I'd mention, I tried this trick, with bandwith tests before and after, and it doubled my bandwith. My browser now runs much quicker, so thank you for the tip, Mrcheeks.

User Prefs Speed Tweaks for fast comp - fast connection, fast comp - slow connection, slow comp - fast connection etc etc.

Also a little extension called Tweak Network which lets you switch between default and power settings.
